CSBK Round 2 report

Well Mack Weil race fans, CSBK Round 2 at Calabogie was a ton of fun and we got some much needed seat time.

Calabogie is a wonderful track, probably one of the best in Canada. Mack has always done well here and we knew there was going to be a learning curve but Mack was excited. We arrived Thurs night for the Fri track day more prepared then we’ve been but we still had some work to do on the bike. Our new body work had arrived and we needed to fit it on the bike and put the stickers and numbers on until the bugs drove us inside our trailer…we just couldn’t put them on straight and slap the bugs off lol.

Friday morning we were up early to finish the needed adjustments and we were off to the races. Mack came back from every session faster and faster with more stories to tell with bigger and bigger smiles. Things were defiantly going to plan. When Mack had started the day he had managed to cut over 6 seconds off his initial time but we still had lots of work to do.

Saturdays practice went well and our times were consistent. We managed to place around 15th but the Amateur Sport bike grid for this weekend was huge, 33 riders in total. When it came to qualifying there were some issues on the track and Mack didn’t really have a good few laps and we qualified 19th, but Mack again bettered his times by another 2 seconds.

Sundays morning practice went well. Mack had spend most of Saturday night talking with fellow races and gathering lots of advise on how to improve multiple corners. When the times came in Mack was sitting around 14th. When it came to race time Mack got an amazing start and managed to pass multiple riders. Mack ended up finishing 13th and managed to knock another 3 seconds off his best time to date.

To help with seat time Mack has also entered into the Amateur Superbike Series. This is just for more seat time as Mack is riding against much more powerful motorcycles, however Mack managed to qualify 19th out of 26 and managed to finish 13th.

Stay tuned for our adventures for Round 3 in Shubenacadie Nova Scotia. We are leaving Monday July 18th to arrive Wednesday July 20th for a track day on Thursday and CSBK Round 3 Fri-Sun.
