CSBK Round 4 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park report
CTMP (Canadian Tire Motorsports Park) is by far the best venue that CSBK has in its line up for the fans and racers just because of the amount of people that you have cheering you on. No matter where you place, if Canadian racers ever felt like rock stars, this is where they do.

Mackenzie loves this track and it’s right in our backyard. Historically Mack has always done well here and continues to do so. This year aboard his Yamaha R6 Mack learned a ton and is continuing to grow as a racer and hone his craft.
We started out on Thursday with our track day but unfortunately we weren't able to achieve decent lap times as the track day was very busy. Mack was starting to feel the true power of his R6 as the Andretti straight at CTMP would take him to unseen speeds. By the end of the weekend Mack was reaching speeds over 260kph, and loving every second…his parents, not so much lol.
Halfway through the afternoon sessions we noticed some fluid in the bottom of his belly pan that turned out to be radiator fluid. Upon closer inspection a mount holding the voltage regulator broke and fell into the radiator puncturing it. Lucky for us Pro racer Tomas Casas’s crew chief Julio Casas recommended a shop in Peterborough that could help, we made some calls and they fixed Mack’s rad while we waited.
Friday was practice and qualifying. Practice went well and Mack felt comfortable. The crew was more focused on making sure that the rad fix was holding and there wasn’t any other issues with the bike. There were some small adjustments with suspension and clutch that needed to be addressed but lucky for us Scott Cartier (Scott Cartier Racing) was on hand to help direct us with quick adjustments and suggestions. Mack qualified 13th in AM Sport Bike and 12th in AM Super Bike.
Saturday practice times were coming down as Mack was getting more and more comfortable. The Sport bike grid was packed and the competition was fierce, but CTMP always is. In Sport Bike race #1 Mack finished 10th and in Super Bike finished 8th. Mack was really happy with the results but knew that he still had more he could do.
Sunday was our day once again. Mack felt great and was on a mission. His practice times were good but we had decided to change up his tire choice for Sundays races. We’ve always run a soft compound for front and rear tires but CTMP was tearing them up worse than normal. We talked it over with the Pro6 Dunlop reps and decided on a super soft front and a med rear. Mack also realized that he was leaning over so much that he started to drag his elbow, which is awesome but not when the elbow sliders are in the wrong place.
On the Sunday races Mack found even more speed and blew away his personal best times. Sport Bike race #1 Mack placed 6th. He battled for 5th place but was passed just at the finish line and was SO close to a top 5 finish. In race #2 Super bike, again with a huge battle between 5-7 Mack finished 7th. CTMP did not disappoint whatsoever and the team had a great time as always.
In the 2022 point standings. In AM Sport bike Mack finished 11th overall out of 46 riders. In Super bike Mack finished 9th overall out of 31 riders. Mack will be back in 2023 in his hope to clinch the AM Sport bike National Championship and a top 5 finish in AM Super bike.
Special thank you to Scott Cartier for all your guidance and help this year, Thank you to Fred at Fred Racing for everything. Thank you to Lisa, Kaitlynn and Steve “cinnamon” Evans, without you I’d go mental and Matt Simpson for everything, especially for your help with Princess.
