MWR came away from Jennings GP in Florida with some great lap times and lots of information for this years CSBK series

#79 Mack Weil of MackWeilRacing traveled to Jennings Florida for the CSBK Bridgestone tire test to learn about the new Bridgestone V02 racing slick tires. The CSBK National series changed from Dunlop as their spec tire to Bridgestone through out the 2026 season. Mack had only ever ridden on the Dunlop tires so we took the opportunity to learn directly from Bridgestone USA and their team on how to properly race with the new V02s.

We arrived on Sat night so that Mack could ride the Jennings local track days on Sunday and Monday to help give him time to learn the track before the tire testing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t in our favor as the Sunday morning was cold and damp and Sunday afternoons riding was cut short by a tornado warning that brought some serious winds and we were forced to clean up our pit and take our tents down. Mack only got to ride 3 sessions that afternoon day one but he was riding in the 1:28 range which isn’t bad considering that Mack hasn’t been on a bike all winter and is his first time on this track. When we asked the Jennings GP staff they had said that a “quick time” for a 600 rider is in the low 1:25’s.

Was really lucky to get some advise from Ben Young and Scott Cartier about the track

Monday morning day two started off wet. It had rained all Sunday night and was only around 4C. The afternoon warmed up nicely and Mack was able to ride for 4 sessions. Mack had started to figure out his lines and Bridgestone had arrived and gave us some tips on how to make the tire work better. Before we knew it Mack was down in the high 1:25’s for lap times and starting to feel he could trust his tires more and more. Monday night Bridgestone held meetings on what they were looking for. With the Dunlop’s you were always looking for the tire pressure but the Bridgestone’s we are looking for the right tire temperature, meaning the PSI is set up or down to get the desired tire temperature. This is done with tire probes.

Tues morning, opening day of the tire testing. In the morning Mack was out to warm his tires up and get himself ready. On his return in the pits we found was that a Florida Tree Frog had crawled up under Mack’s bike cover in the night to keep warm only to go out in the morning session unnoticed. Mack was well over 200kph which made the MWR team decide that this was now the worlds fastest Florida Tree Frog in the world. Not to worry, after his ride he was removed and released near a pond safe and sound. For the remaining sessions Mack was sent out to ride 4 or 5 good laps and brought back in to have his tire temp tested. If they weren’t hot enough the pressure was put up…if they were to hot the pressure went down. This was repeated over and over, session after session until you found your operating ranges. Before we knew it Mack was in the mid 1:23’s and still pushing hard.

Wednesday morning was cold again delaying the start of the tire testing. The decision was taken to have an early lunch so that we had more of the afternoon to ride. Mack had another 5 sessions and he did not disappoint. Mack rode like a true champion, really giving his all. Session after session Mack was dropping seconds. We started in the 1:25’s, then to the 1:24’s…next session out we were into the 1:23’s and then into the 1:22’s. He would start to figure something out and just have that amazing lap that would bring him closer and closer…1:22’s then into the 1:21’s and finally into the 1:20’s. If we had a little more time Mack could of broke into the teen’s but we were super proud of him. Mack was 2nd fastest overall of the Amateur Sport bike and Superbike.

The team managed to take a well deserved break and travel to the Gulf of Mexico.

MWR can’t wait to put their newly acquired information to use at the Bridgestone CSBK Round 1 at Shannonville Motorsports Park on Friday May 19-21. Come watch the Bridgestone CSBK opener and stop in and say hi in the pits. Thank you again to all my sponsors and to the best photographer in the world Damian Pereira Photography.
