Bridgestone CSBK round 1 turned out to be a nice reunion with Shannonville Motorsports Park but a multiple issue weekend for MWR

#79 Mack Weil arrived late Wed night to prepare for the Thursday CSBK track day, excited to ride on the new Bridgestone V02 racing tires and excited to get back to racing. The new Bridgestone’s DIDN’T disappoint, they are quite honestly the best tire Mack has ever raced with and he is growing more and more confident everyday…but we can’t say that for his motorcycle.

Thursday’s trackday we put in some solid times. We started noticing that the bike was running a little rough and was down on power. We unfortunately made a rookie mistake during some maintenance that had us spill a little oil out on track as well as all over my motorcycle. This was the start of the downward spiral weekend. We had replaced the stock clutch as if had started to slip while we were in Florida but Mack wasn’t feeling the change and he couldn’t get the feel of the bike he wanted resulting in poor starts, which Mack isn’t known for.

The weather was also working against us…

Thursday night some family issues unexpectedly came up that left the team working through a tough spot… as well as more bike issues showed themselves. Everyone pressed on and Mack focused on the task at hand.

Friday Mack managed to put in some good lap times but we decided to have the motorcycle Dyno tested and were surprised that it only produced 99hp. Normally motorcycles in this class are closer to 120hp with 125hp being the max limit.

On Saturday because of the bad weather both the Sportbike and Superbike qualifying were cancelled. The track was slippery and there were dry lap times from Friday afternoon the series decided to use to for qualify times. Mack was running top 5ish times but because of how the bike was running and having some starting issues the team were a little worried. On Sunday Mack managed to finish 11th in Sportbike and 9th in Superbike. These weren’t the results that he had hoped for but the team was happy to be back at the track and had a plan going forward so that we were ready for Round #2

Monday morning MWR was all hands on deck to try and sort out our motorcycle issues.
